My first year to the track with my 997 GT3 and now that i am addicted I bought used Porsche GT3 seats and a roll bar. I am getting ready to install and have been reading about the considerations of unhooking air bags. That you have to have dealer deactivate the passenger bag ( light) what about drivers side. Going to put in 6 point harness what about the old belts do you leave them in or unhook. I did post this on the PCA. What i am looking for is some written instructions for a dummy to follow to install both the bar, belts and seats in a way i don't blow the bags or listen to the bells.

Hi,

For the stock seat belts, I would call oklahoma Porsche

junkyard and get some clips to put in the stock seat

belt clips.

I would leave the airbags alone for the additional

protection should the car get hit.

In my GT3, I simply clip the original belts behind the back of the racing seats so you don't hear the alarm. This way, you can still use it when you are on the road (don't need the harness fo that) and keep it for the resale of the car with the original seats.

That's the easiest option by far although if your dealer is willing, he can turn off the seat belt chime.

That's the easiest option by far although if your dealer is willing, he can turn off the seat belt chime.

No dealer in the US would do this (if they could). They would be risking legal liability in an accident.
