In my "new" 2001 the plastic window has cracked and I am looking for the upholstery shop to replace the plastic, in the west of Boston area. Any suggestions for quality work?

Yup, u can do it!

I am not sure about any Boston shops. But you can DIY with a replacement window off of eBay for about $100. I hear it takes about 4 hours to do.

You mentioned 4 hours to do the job ... HOW?

1.) If I need to do the same, then do I need to take off the convertible top and then use a sewing machine to put it?

2.) Do I just take the replacement plastic window and the car to an upholstry place to get it done?

I would like to do it on my own ... however, I am somewhat lost trying to figure out "How to take the canvas top OFF?" Thanks.

mikefocke's site has a page on remove the convertible top. Also, you hand sew the new window in, so you can do it while it is the car, but it would probably be easier with the top off.
