split rim tool

Hi All,

Now I know Porsche do not recommend you split your split rims, but I need to get mine re-painted, and want to carry this out myself.

Does any one know where I can get the star tool that bolts the rims together, I aksed Porsche put they wont sell me one because they dont want you to split them

Any ideas guys

Are you sure about this, this seem quite a specialised tool, it has double / triple the amount of teeth than a torx driver.

THeres A guy on ebay who sells all kinds of parts the dealers won't sell you. Probaly need a 3 x 4 star. You'd halve to figure out an mm size (don't know how thats measured). A really good hardware store will have them. I have a set of 5 + one with a "tamper proof"... hole down the middle for my trans. drain plug.

If you splt the wheels, saling them can be a b___. <ake sure you do your home work on that one.

Thank you for the input

Is there any danger of splitting the rim, and do I need to ensure I follow any procedure in fitting them back together to ensure no critical damage is caused.

I'm pretty sure, since I bought mine at my local hardware store, and used it to take apart a sport classic 2 wheel (to hang the center on the wall, the barrel was ruined)

I'm also pretty sure that you really do not want to do this.

From what I've read, to properly put these multi piece rims back together, you need a machine that can tighten all of the bolts at the same time and at the same torque.
