I need help with finding the z1 mark on the crank shaft pulley. All of the manuals that I read refer to

this mark but I am confused as how to tell which mark on the crankshaft pulley is the z1 mark. How do you tell this mark from the other marks?

:welcome:

Take the distributor cap off and turn the engine until the rotor points at cylinder 1.

If you are at TDC then the mark on the pulley will be at 12 o'clock, the next mark will be at 4 o'clock and the last mark will be at 8 o'clock.

I think the TDC is more of a "U" shape and the other marks are a "V" shape. If you pop the dist.cap off the rotor should align with a line stamped into the dist. housing looking from above.

Z1 refers to tdc on #1 cylinder. So find the spark plug wire to #1 follow it to where it enters the distributor cap and when the rotor point to that position that should correspond to Z1 on the crank shaft pulley.
