Strange problem I have 2000 996 and got some used seat belts (front) But they will not extend. They seemed to be locked and both are the same way. There are no electrical connections to them. I was just trying them without mounting them first and also looked for some kind of way to unlock including giving them a quick pull and release ,but no joy. What's up anyone?

When I get that problem (and I had), the ignition on will release them. You still stuck?

Mine are not electrical someone said to install them first then try. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks for the tip though.

The seat belt & tensioner needs to be installed to work. There is a connector that is plugged into it.
Not on pre MY02 cars. Pre MY02 cars do not have the pyrotechnic ball belt tensioner that gets triggered on impact. The early cars only have the mechanical tensioners.

Follow Up: The seat belts (2000 model mechanical type) need to be installed before they will extend.
