Tim Benson, the owner of an independent Porsche shop in Santa Cruz, use to work at 2 Porsche dealerships, before going independent.

Years ago while working at a dealership, he says, he removed a door panel and found this cap inside the door.

I was told by Tim that the inside of the beer bottle cap says: "Happy Birthday, Dr. Porsche", or something like that.

Tim Benson use to work at Stevens Creek Porsche. He knows Peter Smith, who use to be the shop foreman. Back then it use to be Porsche/Audi/VW. I guess some VWs are made in Mexico.

Peter told me they had a VW customer come in one day because of a thumping noise. Thump when you hit the gas. Thump when you hit the brakes.

The headliner was removed and there was a rubber mallet in the roof sliding around. But that one said Hecho En Mexico.

My PCNA instructer told me Dinks were the beer of choice for beer breaks at the factory.

true story I was working at a Buick dealer in 1978 when you took off you could hear something move back in the car, when you hit the brakes you heard it slide forward. we narrowed it down to the rocker panel.

took the car to the body shop and opened the rocker panel to find a coke bottle with a note inside that read "how long did it take for you to find this?" the field rep for Buick wasn't amused

It actually says : "Mit Freundlich Grussen" which kindda means "with friendly greetings"... normally used at the end of a letter.
