Hi - I'm new to this forum, so please treat me gently!

I've searched the site before asking this query, but cannot see anything directly relevant....

I have today reinstalled the original CDR-23 into my car, replacing the aftermarket Alpine unit that I'd had in for a couple of years. I have a "PROTECT" message on the unit... how do I clear this, please, and is there an easy way of finding the code for the radio - there's nothing in any of my original documents.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Gary

Short time I have been here it has been discussed. You need the security code. This is the anti theft deterent when your radio is pulled or you loose power to the radio ( ie battery cable off).

In order to get the code, go here. They will charge you.

CDR-23 do not have security codes.

If the CDR-23 is changed it has to be reset using a PST2 or PIWIS tester.

Thanks Loren... sorry to show my ignorance, but what is a PST2 or PIWIS tester; and where do I find one?

Many thanks

The CDR-23 functions on the MOST (fiber optic) network. When changes are made to items on the network a shop with a PST2 or PIWS (Porsche diagnostic tools) needs to re-configure the car.

Many good Porsche shops have them and all dealers do also.
