Motor mount problems on a 996 are not common, thy can start leaking when you lift up the car using the engine oilpan as a jacking point.

If you lift the rear of the car on the engine point, and see some dark liquid coming out, you have leaky engine mounts. The liquid has the color of dirty oil (which is what it looks like at first glance) but the consistency of coffee (more waterlike). It can happen

The reason I ask is because I just had the Evo supercharger installed. In order to get the sc mounted they had to shim the motor mounts. Is it possible that they are worn causing the motor to sag? The sc is now kind of resting on the frame. I don't really like this situation and I'm trying to figure out what the real problem is and how to properly fix it.

Thanks,

Tony

Motor mounts are fairly cheap, I had mine replaced while they were mounting my EVO SC... It still not to late, The SC should not rest on anything...also, they might not honor your warranty if something goes wong with the SC, due to improper installation. Who did your install?

My local dealer did the install. We finally got a hold of someone at Evo and they told me on older cars they do change the motor mounts because they start to sag after a while.

i put on the hard rubber motor mounts from carnewal recently when i bought the X-74 suspension- It feels a bit more solid though these are pricey.

This appears to be an easy DIY, jack up engine, remove lower bold, remove upper bolts. Are there any hidden landmines?
