I was testing the alarm on my porsche 996 carrera 4 convertible. I kicked the tires, shook the car but nothing happened. Does anybody know what the alarm is supposed to do, does it only have a glass break sensor?

If that's the case, I probably have to buy a new alarm.

Thank you

Kristian

I don't believe there are any motion sensors. Just sensors on the mechanics (door handles, center console latch, ignition, etc. If you are looking for an alarm that will go off if the vehicle is moved you will have to look aftermarket.

Look at the owners manual for the infrared sensor location inside the cabin. If you do not have the manual, you can dowload it from the Quick Menu above

In some countries, like the UK, the alarm also has a tilt sensor. This is to meet the requirements of certain insurance companies.

We do not have this tilt sensor in the US. There is a retrofit kit but I do not know of anyone who has tried to install it. It also comes with an alarm siren with a built-in rechargeable battery. So if someone tries to disable the alarm by disconnecting the main battery the alarm siren goes off.

Looking from the front of the car, it is under the cover to the right of the battery. The siren is the black/red device, and the tilt sensor the white-ish box.

There were water penetration problems with the tilt sensor mounted near the battery, therefore is a kit available, sensor and wiring, to move the tilt sensor under the driver seat ( Europe LHD cars)
