After a flat tire a couple of weeks back (which is a story in itself!), my ride seems a lot rougher on the new tires. Is it possible the springs/suspension could have been damaged whilst driving with the flat? Any tips on what I can look for?

Cheers!

Did you replace with the same exact tire? How many miles are on the other tire on the same axel? Is the new tire defective (out of round)? Is it balanced properly? Road forced balanced? How far did you drive on the flat tire? Did you bend the rim?

Good questions...

Replaced both rears at the same time after the flat. I would assume that its balanced correctly, the rims are ok and the tires are not defective -- all done at the dealer, who normally do great work and check everything. Must of driven about 5 miles on the flat.

FWIW, 02 996 Targa.

Thanks!

Well, driving for 5 miles on a flat tire could have been your problem.

Check your tire pressures. They might be over-inflated. I think you 996 guys run about 37-40 PSI.

Thanks, I checked my tire pressures, and they were way under inflated. I drive a Targa, and the pressures are higher than other 996s, I believe... I'd expect Joe Blow'ss Discount Tires to make that mistake but not a Porsche dealer!

Anyway, ride is a lot smoother now. Thanks!

Kidsmurf, good news! Invest in a good digital pressure gauge, if you don'y have one already. About $12 at the auto parts store. Well worth it and more accurate.
