Hi Everyone, I could your guidance on the proper VW wiring harness to use on my 2001 Boxster S. It currently has the Becker 220 radio/CD player. I'm looking to install the Alpine IDA-X001 head unit.

I've searched this forum and found a reference to a Crutchfield harness but when I checked for "things that fit my car" on their site it returned a different harness/part number. You can see it here: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-5fjAzE9gVIr/c...i=120701784#Tab

Any advice on which is best? Who am I to question the Crutchfield gods??

Many thanks,

-randy

I am installing a JVC KDAR870 headunit in my 2001 (w/ Hi Fi option) and after researching several boards, I bought a Metra 70-1787 off eBay for $14.99. It's my understanding this is the proper adapter if you have the factory amplifier option. If you do not have the factory amplifier, then you likely need a different adapter, maybe the one that Crutchfield identifies. Hope this helps.

I have it from a very reliable source that the proper adapter is the PAC-OEM2 unit that also is available from Crutchfield. Edited by boschzm
