Hey guys,

A few months ago my gem of a 99 996 was totaled (someone else's fault). I've just recently completed physical therapy and have started to actively look at a replacement car. After driving a couple samples, I have found another 99 that is a possible candidate. It has a fresh motor and has some of the options that I want most, LSD in particular.

This brings me to my question- I always thought option code 220 was the LSD code but after looking up a couple of code readers on the internet (and this site) I see that 224 is automatic LSD (which the car that I'm looking at has) What is the difference?

Thanks for the help,

Pete

I believe that the 99 usually comes with both the 220 and the 222 option codes together as a package for TC. At least mine did, and I seem to recall another thread where this was discussed.

I guess my question is that in this case, we have codes 220 which we know is the LSD. On this website, it shows that 224 as Automatic LSD. Is this torsen limited slip rather than a clutch type?

This car also has 222 on it's option code list. Does this mean that it definitely has an LSD? Can you have Traction control and no LSD on the 99?

Thanks for the help,

Pete

Thanks Loren,

I'm scheduled to see the car today so I'll look for the 220 code under the hood to verify.

Pete

If the sticker is not there or you are unsure then PM the VIN and I will look it up.
