Hi guys,

I'm from Sydney Australia. I have just bought an immacualte 2001 996TT with 25,000kms. I have a few questions. I know the factory fill oil is Mobil 1, but what viscocity is it? Over here we can get 0W30, 0W40 and 5W50, I'm thinking of using 5W50 or 0W40. Or should I use a different brand? The temperature here is typically 10 degrees C to 35 degrees C.

Also, is there anywhere I can download or buy a shop manual for the car?

Thanks in advance

I'll just reply about the oil: 0W40, 5W40 and 5W50 Mobil are all approved. You can see the TSB on oil if you join up....well worth it!

I just spoke to Porsche Sydney South - they recommend Mobil 1 0W40. I'm about to do my oil change too...

If the weather is warmer, then surely you should use one with an 'offset'. i.e. 5W40 or 5W50. The dealers here in the UK use 5W40 Mobil 1 to fill from their 'tank', and as you know, it aint that warm here!! However, i believe you cannot buy 5W40 to then top up, only 0W40, so maybe you are stuck with that anyway??
