I have been hearing a noise which sounded like a bad bearing for the past week or so therefore, I removed the ribbed belt in hopes of finding the source. Upon turning the tensioning roller, I found it to be loose on its axis and making a grinding noise on spinning. All of the other items, ie. alternator, A/C compressor, etc. appear to be fine.

Am I correct to assume that the tension roller needs to be changed?

If so, how do I do this? Do I simply turn the 24mm bolt counter-clockwise to remove the mechanism or is there more to it?

How much should I expect to pay for this item at my local dealer? I'd rather have an idea before getting ripped off without fair warning ....

Sorry, can't answer your question as to whether you should change it. However, here's a diagram of how the roller attaches. To remove, you turn it counter-clockwise while countering on the bolt it is mounted on.

Good luck!
