So after waiting 2 months while finding time to fix my rear trunk cable I became used to opening the front and tossing in whatever it was I needed to carry.

The first time I opened the trunk after replacing the accuator assembly was at the local grocery while on the phone and slightly distracted. I placed my items including a six pack of 24oz sodas in the trunk and closed it...or so I thought.

Ouch! I would throw up too!

I wonder if paintless dent removal would work, although the paint looks to be broken?

DasSchild rear trunk lid protector

needed. They also sell one for the front trunk and sell them as a pair. The lids are fragile. Not cheap but if they save you a dent ...

Easy to install. Maybe 5 minutes.

Thanks, I didn't even know they had such a thing. I'm going to get one of the lid protectors as soon as this is repaired. And yeah it broke through the paint so the dent removal won't work. At least then it would've only been about $100. And get this, they hit less than 1 cm from the structural 'beam' in the lid.

I hope this post will keep someone else from doing the same thing.

Very Creative Cross-Post! Fortunately for me, I found it humorous and it eased the pain. Good Job, it was very funny.
