Re-program needed? UPDATE

Recommended Posts

Loren: I found a MAF in a box of parts that I received sometime back. I have no idea where it came from and I have no idea if it will work, but thepart number is the correct one for the 99 996. Is there a way test it without installing it? I was wondering that if I installed it to see if it works and it was defective....would it create any unnecessary or troublseome problems with the DME.?

The only way I know to test one is to put it on the car and measure the air flow with a PST2 or the Durametric Software.

The MAF is not used for idle measurements.

The "125" MAF is a different design so I think you need the reprogram so it properly measures the air flow. Porsche would not have their dealers do if they didn't think it was needed.

Thanks Loren for the clarification. This site is a life saver!
