Help! Cayman S Power window problem

Recommended Posts

Dears,

Both windows of my 2006 Porsche Cayman S are not working after the battery was disconnected and reconnected, I pushed the rocker switch, no response!

I phoned the engineer at the porsche dealer, he told me that this might be the problem of the motors that control the windows, he needs me to drive the car to their dealership and have it diagnosed by computer.

Would anyone have ideas or experience about what the problems might be and teach me how to rectify this problem?

Awaiting your reply!

Thanks in advance!

Start with the fuses - A1 and A4 should be the windows fuses. Both are 30A.

Also, have you started and driven the car since the battery disconnect. Disconnecting the battery resets all the computers so they have to re-initialize and in some cases be re-trained. If the fuses are ok then hold down the window switch for at least 20 seconds in both directions.

Dear Loren,

Thanks for your reply! I hope it will be working. The car was started and driven out of the container, the agent used a donor battery to open the front lid and get the car's own battery connected.

Should I hold the switch upward for 20 seconds and then downward for another 20 seconds right after the first upward 20 seconds? Also 30A means 30ampere, right?

Actually, I just imported this tiptronic Cayman S , it is stilling holding at the customs designated area, I will come there and pick up the car next week once all the import formalities are completed. I will do as you told and advise you the outcome later. Is there anything else that I need to check if this is not working?

By the way, the service of Porsche authorized dealer in Guangzhou is really really bad, I am not confident that they will be honest about this problem if I let them check my car as they told me that this problem might cost me about ten thousand RMB to fix.

Here is the picuture I'd like to share with you, she is absolutely gorgeous!!!

The car looks great - congratulations.

Now that I see the car is new... Has the dealer run the Porsche PIWIS handover program? This is required for the car to configure country setting and the like.

I think that the dealer should have run the handover program, anyway I will check with authorized Porsche dealer in Guangzhou next Tuesday.

By the way, is there any chance to cost me over $1300 to fix this problem? Also I heard that my car will not have warranty in China as this car is for sale in the US, is this true?

Thank you!
