Has anyone replaced 996 seats with Boxster 986 seats? Are the seats the same size and shape? I have a 2000, 996 with worn seats and found a pair of seats from a 2002, 986 S that look very similar. I am wondering if I could at least replace the leather with the Boxster leather.

Yes, the seats are the same.

Just be aware that power seats won't easily go in a car with standard seats as the wiring harness and controls are not there.

Loren, Thank you for the help. I purchased the Boxster seats and used the leather and cushions to replace my worn ones. Everything fits and looks great, and cost much less than other options. I only made the stupid mistake of turning the car on with the seat removed - now I need to shell out $100 to reset the airbag light.

Where are you located?

Perhaps a member with the Durametric Software or a PST2 will reset it for you - for free.

Loren - I am located near Boise, Idaho. A hundred dollars does seem outragreous to reset a computer.

Well, another option is the Durametric Software. A 3 car use license and cable are $247.

Very useful if you ever need to reset the airbag light or have a CEL.

I know this is an old thread, but perhaps you have some input here in regards to putting 996 electric seats (no memory) in to a 986 that has only electric recline, but manual height and fore/aft sliding adjustments.

I'm told that these seats are interchangeable with a simple unplug/plug of the wiring harness and bolts for the seats. I'm also told that seats with memory function are not easily interchangeable with non-memory function seats, but can be done.  Anyone know these statements to be true or false?
