Hi,

I was helping my friend adjust his rear wing and

we could not get it to work. Is there some trick

to make this work. We were trying to add more wing

but we could not get the front of the wing to go down.

His GT-3 is a 2007 model.

Any help or links would be great. I mentioned to him

about adding spacer washers but he was told that

they were not needed.

Thanks,

Paul

Hi,

I just got an e-mail from my friend and he has a RS wing that

should be delivered soon. Sounds like the way to go.

There are plastic shims that you can install on the wing mounts. There is a 4 way and 8 way adjustable pair. They are very inexpensive. Changing the wing angle without the shims won't work because the wind will push the wing back down.

Where does one acquire these shims and how much are they? Id like to add a little wing to my car...can't hurt.

I got mine from my dealer. They service a lot of GT3's and had them on hand. You can also order them online. Some Porsche parts are insanely expensive. The shims are strangely inexpensive. I think they were 25-35 dollars e.g.. not much

I think Dan is referring to the shims available to adjust the angle of attack on the wing of the MK II GT3. They are orange, wedge shaped, and come in 4 and 8 degree pairs. I have/use a pair of both. According to the parts list, they do not apply to the MK III GT3 wing. The parts list for the MK III includes parts 997 512 635 90, and 997 512 636 90: "Fastening Angle Rear", left and right. I have no personal experience with the MK III wing, but, those parts might adjust the wing angle.

I have the same issue with my 997 GT3. Still searching for an answer. The wing is supposed to have 3 adjustment positions (stock, 3 deg, and 6 deg). One of the wing mounts (the rear mount I believe) has 3 positions in which it can be mounted, but the front mount can't be attached then. Sounds like exactly what you have described. Anyone out there made this work with the 997 GT3 wing?
