Hi there,

This is my first post, after getting my first Porsche 10 days ago. I bought a V6 meteor gray with preferred package and light comfort package.

I was told that the CDR23 sound system (I don't have PCM) would play MP3s, however, whenever I insert an MP3 cd, the sound system will go back to radio, as if it cannot recognize the cd. When I press the CD button, the screen shows a "No CDS" message. It will play regular CDs.

Does any one else face this same problem?

Another issue I'm having is a rough idle sometimes (frequently) when stopped in 1st or 2nd gears (such as in a traffic light). Is this normal?

I was very excited with my car, but these two issues have my a little worried...

I'm planning on taking it back to the dealer tomorrow morning to have it checked. I'll post any findings tomorrow night.

Hi!

Just a quick update about my problems after a visit to the dealer and a couple of phone calls:

1) The CDR23 radio does not play MP3s. Porsche will replace my radio for a new one. Apparently my radio does not have the right "firmware" to be able to play MP3s. Radio is being shipped from Germany. Will take about 2 weeks to get here.

2) According to my service advisor, rough idle is "normal" in these FSI engines.

Will keep you posted.

Any comments?

Good info thanks.

I would go to another dealer and get another opinion on the rough idle or at least ask for the service manager. Seems to me that should not be normal <_<

I am considering a V6 Cayenne and will pay particular attention to the idle when I take a test drive. Keep us updated.

My 2006 Cayenne V6 idles just fine. I can't recall that it ever did idle rough. I haven't tried an MP3 CD in the Bose sound system. It probably won't work if the new firmware is just coming onto the market.

Hi all, just another quick update on the two issues I'm having with my Cayenne. I have already 1455 miles on it. The rough idle is still there, guess I'll just have to get used to it...

I took the car to the dealer today to have the radio replaced. They call me and told me it was ready, so I picked it up as they closed for the day this evening.

First thing I did was to insert an MP3 CD and.... NOTHING! I tried with another disc, NADA! (BTW, both CDs have been succesfully tested in other cars that play MP3s, including Cayennes with PCM).

The service advisor had already left for the day, and there was no one that would hear my complaint at the time. I called 1-800-PORSCHE and was told that I must try to solve the situation with the dealer, so I'm going to be calling them back on monday.

The dealer is 40 miles away from my house, so this is starting to be really inconvenient...

After doing a little bit of research on the internet, I realized I'm not the only one seeing this problem:

I'm starting to feel dissapointed. Maybe I should have gone for that X5 after all...

Will keep everyone updated next week.

Godspeed!
