Title says it all...

New Boxster owner and forum member. The check engine light came on and got the code P1119. I understand it to be the pre cat O2 on bank 2.

Can anyone tell me what side of the car is bank 2 or what side relates to P1119? Need to take the car for a smog test and figure I should get this handled.

Hi

Cylinder bank 2 = Left Hand ( 986 - 987 )

It is actually the heating of O2 sensor, not that it makes a huge difference. :P

I just had that replaced yesterday. I had a intermittent CEL with same code.

Tomorrow we have a little trip to Mammoth Lake, CA, with local PCA. It is gonna be a blast. :drive:

I had an intermittent P1119. Replaced both pre-cat O2 sensors (left and right cylinder banks) and it went away for a while, but it's back now. Anyone else have this issue?

I've had the issue for over a year now on my '00 986 (which blows since it prevents my car from passing emissions, and therefore getting my tags :( ). Anyway, I've concluded that this is a short in the wiring to the O2 sensor, not the sensor itself (at least in my case). I swapped the bank 1 sensor with the bank 2 sensor and no dice. Interestingly, my car sat in the garage most of the winter (this was the first time it had sat so long). As soon as I pulled it out in the spring and went on a test drive, the light was out (and I went directly to the emissions place ;) ). Unfortunately, it came back on a few hundred miles later.

PS - if you search for P1119 on the board, you'll see a number of posts from me several months ago when I was diagnosing. These may help
