I have had my Boxster S now for a little over 2 months. I've been checking oil level daily using the gage. A couple days ago I pulled the dipstick out the first time. UUPS! It doesn't go back in! I tried about 30min. :(

I drove to a dealership: one service advisor AND one mechanic both tried, no luck (even with a new dipstick). :( :(

Yesterday @ PCA members breakfast I asked one of our Porsche only independents to have a look at it. Same result. :( :( :(

It stucks a little on the way in and finally stops at where the yellow end of the stick is about even with the deck lid.

Any ideas??

All this and no one has looked to see if the guide tube is crimped?

Dealership wanted me to take it in Monday, but cannot do (and don't feel like paying for it). They did not seem to have a very good idea how the tube even goes.

And I have not have a chance to crawl under myself yet.

Thanks Loren

You're not going to see it from below. Open the engine compartment cover and have a look, it wont cost you a dime.

The guide tube is really stiff plastic....it shouldn't crimp. In fact, what little leverage I put on mine during my oil filler pipe replacement, caused the tube to crack.

With mine, I have to twist the dipstick slightly as it goes in.

I suppose it's possible the tube has become unseated from the engine. I would replace mine, but it looks like a total pain.

Twisted turned you name it no help.

Also I tried to have a peek from above, but lights were not that good. I'll try to look again later.
