ECU flashing and throttle remap response question

Recommended Posts

I did not order the Sport Chrono wart on my car, and only want the throttle remap that the 'SPORT' button gives.

Does anyone know if throttle remapping is done using ECU flashing or other firmware, or via other techniques?

I'm pretty sure that programming the Sport Chrono option requires that the dealer get an IPAS code directly from Porsche (just like for a new key). Porsche will verify that the option was paid for (either on the original order or on dealer installed paperwork). Likely they did this to keep the dealers honest.

I guess you could always go with a third party re-map - if all you want is throttle/DME mapping.

Yeah that's really all I want. On my 987S, I bought sport chrono and just push SPORT every time as part of my pre-flight checklist.

Do you know of any third party solution to my 'dilemma'?

There are many software companies in the market - GIAC, REVO to name a couple. I did not like the sport mapping at all and found it too jumpy. Stock was best and most guys I know that track our 997S do so with SC off (those that thought SC would be good for track realized otherwise...).
