Hi. I'm new to the forum and I have just purchased an 01 C4. I've never had more fun in my life. I quickly realized that driving this car without a radar detector is like having unprotected sex -- feels good, but sooner or later your going to catch something you don't want.

So, I bought a V1 and I need to hardwire it. I've poked around on the forum to see the DIY options. I'm really nervous to get into the fusebox - I fear I will mess something up. A quick call to my local dealer got me a $300 quote, which I think is outrageous.

Two questions:

What should I expect to pay for this install?

Can I trust a "stereo install" place with this job?

Any thoughts, input would be greatly appreciated.

You cannot screw this up. Trust me - do it your self. The voltage is easy to get. The access is simple. And you'll learn something about the car.

I recommend you do it in concert with a garage door opener install if you need that.
