How do you remove the OEM sideskirts on a 2003 996

Recommended Posts

One of my side skirts is starting to have a gap and you can see the double sided tape. I know there are bolts underneath, but how do you remove the skirt without removing the paint.

I was thinking about using dental floss to separate the skirt from the body but cutting the tape in half, but don't know how to remove what's left without damage to either the body or skirt. Do they make special stuff to remove the tape.

Also any tips on how to reinstall to get a perfect gap...

Use a warm (not hot) hairdryer and dental floss to cu the tape. Then one it is off use 3M Adhesive Remover.

You might try reading through the old aerokit instructions TSB. In the original instructions the side skirts were epoxy glued on - but that will also take 24 hours to cure.
