I have a 2001 Boxster S, full Porsche dealer history and doesn't have any problems, drives a dream, no noises..... etc. So I want to keep it like that, yes? Absolutely. So I booked it in to a UK Porsche main dealer for an annual service. My car hadn't done the mileage for an oil change so just needed the yearly check, so I booked her in, she also was due a brake fluid change so I gave that the green light too.

We picked her up but the dealer had mistakenly carried out a different service, we also had an oil change! So I thought oh well, an oil change is a good thing (even if not due) so we came to a compromose financially and settled up. At that point my wife and daughter went north in the Boxster, and I went south, on business, this was a Wednesday. On Friday I came home only to be told off by my wife, she said "your car has been leaking oil" - there were three oil patches on the drive. My Saab was as dry as a bone underneath, puzzling. I looked under the newly serviced Boxster, and nothing either, which leaking car has been parking upon my drive!

I took the Boxster for a spin, new oil and all! As I parked her up I noticed the tyre, black as the night, I thought "they really have carried out a great service as they have tyre blacked the tyres!" - ah but no, upon closer inspection the tyre was black as it was coated in brake fluid, as was the wheel, wheel arch, caliper and bumper! Brake fluid, I have always been told is agressive to paint, now I could dee the result. The front offside (right) caliper was leaking from the bleed valve. When I asked my wife to push hard upon the middle pedal there was a steady flow of brake fluid from the caliper. It looked to me as though the bleed valve had not been tightened fully after the fluid change.

I called the dealer and whilst in, fairness, they were scheptical of the problem they took ownership and did the following:

Collected the Boxster

Left me with a car

Re-sprayed the wheel

Replaced the Continental N2 spec tyre

Re-sprayed the bumper

Replaced the caliper

All, as you would expect at no cost.

Now that I have my car back after the repairs I am very pleased. I would rather not have experienced the problem, after all a Brake fluid leak could have been very serious indeed, however the attitude of the dealer has been very impressive.

In summary my dealer made a grave error, but at least they held their hand up and sorted out the problem and the consequences.

Happy Porsche ownership continues!

Glad they sorted it out with no hassle, the porsche dealer in my town is good like that as well

Ultimately your paying for that service so its to be expected :)

I've been over (and under) the car thoroughly, just to make sure the fluid didn't damage any more paint but I didn't check any wheelnuts so I think that is good advice - I might have been unlucky enough to get the same technician!
