GT3 suspension on 996 tt

If you mean the coilsovers - yes and no.

The GT3 is a 2WD and the TT is 4WD - so you have front and rear weight differences.

The GT3 front springs are likely too light for the weight in the front of the TT. You should be able to accomplish pretty much what you want with the coilovers and swaybars.

Thanks Loren. I think what you are saying is that they will physically bolt up but I would have to change the front springs to keep the balance or change one swaybar. If the springs in the front are too light, the best solution would seem to be simply change the front springs.

Thanks so much for very good advice.

Hotrod,

I'll be doing one of these swaps shortly as well. Still waiting for a few missing parts. Doing a GT3 suspension over to 996 C2. One thing you may consider when increasing the spring rates is to have the GT3 shocks revalved to match the new spring rates.

Thanks for the advice. The folks at bilstein told me I could go up or down 25% on the spring rates and the shocks would work OK. The point is, what is OK. Would they perform better if they were revalved. Don't know. I would only have to have the fronts done since I would just change the front springs. I'm just looking for a street setup, so the rears at 385 are stiff enough. I've got 800lb springs on the rear and 700 on the front now. It's killing me. Let's compare notes when we complete the job.

Look forward to hearing from you again.

Well, I ended up putting on a GT2 coilover setup. Everything worked really well except, since the tt is awd, I needed to get aftermarket droplinks for the front. Seems like only TRG in Calf sells them. I am very happy with the setup. Oh, btw I added a rear gt3 swaybar to give me the adjustment I need to fine tune the handling. I couldn't be happier.

Putting a GT2 C/O suspension on a 996TT is not that simple. I could only wish. I am in the middle of doing so, and finding information is hard as hell. First thing you'll need is a sleeve that Moton sells that adapt the GT2 front struts to fit into the 996TT uprights. I'll try and get back to you with more information on this but until then you can find out more info at this link:
