Hi, new here but learned alot from various posts and have made many little mods (clear marker, V1 install, Cayman grill).

I'm looking to install a GT3 steering wheel but can't find any directions anywhere. Is this a doable thing or something I should goto the dealership with? If anyone has pictures or other words of wisdom, please let me know.

Thanks.

Hi,

The GT3 wheel is essentially the same unit as the sport wheel except its clad in alcantra rather than leather. Therefore if you currently have the standard wheel you will need both the wheel and the airbag for the sport wheel as the airbags are different. Swapping the wheel is relatively straight forward but needs to be done with the battery disconnected. You will need some basic tools (hex bits , long srewdriver (small flat blade) and I'd suggest a torque wrench of a low scale , as well as some loctite. Yopu should be able to find some info on the wheel removal on this forum as essentially its the same as the 997. After fitting the new wheel and reconnecting power there are a few reset functions that need to be carried out , but its all in the drivers handbook.

Just curious. Is this the same steering wheel that is in the orange Boxster and Porsche Design Edition Cayman?

Thanks

there's an article over at www.caymanclub.net that talks specifically about removing the steering wheel. i don't have the link so you'll have to search for it there or do a google search.

btw, i had the wheel installed by my dealer for 150 bones. that way, its on record. anyways, the steering wheel is great. it makes a huge impact on the driving experience.
