Hi everyone!

I am thinking on upgrading the trimming on my boxster. I have a all black interior and wish to break it with updating the trimmings.

I am leaning toward the aluminum trimming, what would you go for if you had all black interior?

Are you planning on using the trim kits you can get, that comprise of sticky back effect paper.

If so, DONT

Have them professional sprayed, or spray them yourself

Hey Russ,

I was until you got my attention. Can you tell me why not? How difficult will it be so spray them myself?

Personally, I think the stick on stuff it tacky, looks cheap and it can peel.

Spraying them depends on your knowledge, but in essence its just a case of scotch padding a key for the paint, spraying with plastic primer, spraying the top coat, and then laqcour.

Simply, I would do them for you if you were local, but if you want to ship them over I would be more than happy.

Cheers

I have seen a black interior car with the aluminum trim and it really looked nice. It was the stick on stuff and still it was quite sharp. I don't really like the look of interior parts painted the color of the car or painted at all. That looks cheap and tacky to me like you can't afford the the real trim kit you use used tremclad or something. When installed properly they look nice. They have a nice gloss on the top so it doesn't look like paint.

Put it this way, I painted all my interior with Alumilook paint, and applied a very high gloss coat. If you could see mine you would be impressed, but at the end of the day, its your choice

Ditto. I think lots of people don't take the time to wetsand the color properly to eliminate any orange peel, and some don't even clearcoat the paint! In that case, yes, it looks very cheap.

I spent the time to paint my trim properly, and applied seveal coats of clear which I then wetsanded and buffed to a high gloss. It makes a huge difference and looks worlds better than the stick-on stuff.
