The Harman Becker stereo settings revert back to a zero setting constantly in my 06 S.

Often, the stereo simply shuts off on its own and restarting the vehicle is the main option

to restart the stereo. Last Saturday shutting off the engine and restarting didn't even work.

On Sunday the stereo came on again. Now this has been a known problem by the dealer who

says Porsche Corporate in conjunction with Becker are working on the problem. I've had this

problem since Nov of 05 and the dealer simply says that their fustrated as well without a final

fix. So yesterday, I finally decided that enough was enough and I called the dealer again who

said I had to follow procedure and call US corporate in Atlanta. Well, this was my 2nd time in 4

months calling them and as I expected it was like talking to a brick wall. It required 24 minutes

of my time with a customer service rep who simply didn't listen too well. The end result was that

he said someone would call me back within 24 hours, most likely my dealer! Now the service manager

who's been real nice doesn't want to step out of his politcal jurisdiction by giving me the Northeast

reps phone number or e-mail address. The manager said that he'd e-mail the rep and we'd take it from

there. Hey, aprox 1 year and six months is simply too long a time to wait for a fix! Help! What can I do!????

Sorry if this topic has been discussed before...just registered 1st time poster...

Does your car have PCM (navigation)?

Hi Loren, no it does not have PCM. The dealer says 6 others without PCM have similar

problems and all PCM stereos do not have this problem. I know to get PCM requires

hours and hours of wiring but somehow I feel Porsche of North America shoud simply

pay to have my S installed with PCM.

Well, there have been a number of firmware updates to solve a bunch of problems with the PCM systems.

I am surprised that they haven't tried swapping headunits and amps. There have been some amp problems too that caused weird system shut downs.

Boy, the aggrevation is now starting to heat up as I once and for all try to get

some satisfaction. Porsche North America said someone would contact me within

24 hours and of course it's been 72 hrs. without a response! Back to the dealer

I go for some more aggrevation!
