iPOC 4 PCM1 direct connect. yes, it works!

Recommended Posts

Hi people,

first post for me. Hi to all. Hope this ends up in the correct forum.

I just installed an iPOD replacing the CD changer in a 2001 996 with PCM1. Thing is I searched for a solution a'la ice-link from Dension but no support to be found. So I installed the FM modulator.. That basically is not that great. So the search continued.

It turns out that the Alfa has a similar set-up with the Sony CD over some kind of unilink etc. One guy in an Alfa forum has made a small dongle that connects to the CD changer cable and to the line-in RCAs. Just confirmed that it works :-) You cannot control the Ipod but for me that's alright since I have it in the dension cradle and can access it directly. If you need to control it I am sure something could be done.

Let me know if there's any interest in this and I'll check with the guy if he wants to make some more modified Alfa units. I paid around 65 Euro shipping included.

Cheers

/b

Many thanks.
