Oil Pressure indicator failure

Hi

I was driving in the speedway, steady 150 kmh, when sudently the warning message - oil pressure indicator failure popped in the OBC and the needle droped to zero . No other signs or noises and after restrart everything went back to normal and I drove another 450 km without problem.

Should I be concerned or it may have been only a glitch?

I would get it to a shop with a PST2 or PIWIS tester and have them test the sending unit circuit.

I lost oil presure on my 996 2000 c2 cab and had it towed to dealer. Replaced oil presure spring on the oil pump. I later changed the spring, piston 997, and scew plug. The 997 piston is tapered at the end, which looks like a upgrade to prevent the piston from sticking. This is a 2min install on the bottom of the oil pump. The piston and spring regulates the oil pressure. I got the parts at Pelicanparts.

A sudden drop to ZERO on the guage is a guarantee that there is NOT a pressure problem with the oil in your engine and it is either the gauge (unlikely) or (more likey) as mentioned above, the oil sending unit or connections. It would take a blown rod or similar malfunction that blew a hole in the lower end of the engine to get an instant drop in oil pressure. Obviously, this did not happen to your car, so I would sleep well and just find out what is causing it to report wrong Information.
