I personally think that installing my EZ-Pass/Smart-Tag on the windshield detracts from the beauty of my 987, so I never stuck it. I would just keep it in the glove, and raise it up manually whenever I passed the toll gate. I thought about installing it under the hood, but I've read in other forums that it doesn't work, or that it only works intermitently.

So here's what I discovered. Between the hood and the windshield you can see a strip of black plastic that covers the wiper mechanism. Open your hood. Open the battery cover on top. And with sufficient finger agility, you can actually stick your EZ-Pass/Smart-Tag between the two wipers, underneath the plastic cover (just below the windshield, but above the hood). It's invisible, and it works great too! :clapping:

Unfortunately here in California it is required that the %^$*!! fastpass be displayed "in plain sight" .. I guess CHiPs can pull you over if they don't see it in the windshield.

One more issue: remote mounting is not advised for the thin, micro-chip style tags. I tried the location below the wiper cover and it did not work. A web search turned up documents that suggest the thin tags need to be directly on the glass which somehow functions as antennae focus. When I mounted the tag on the windshield it did work.

Did you mount it dead center or did you opt for left or right of center? When I looked at mine it does not seem as if you can get it dead center. I have 2008 RS 60 model Boxster S
