Can anyone shed any light on ...

P2096

Porsche fault code 16 - Oxygen sensor ageing

Delay bank 1

Is this really likely to be an "ageing" sensor, or is this perhaps indicative of something else. Are there other things I should be checking to get further diagnostics - I've got Durametric so I can run further tests if I know what to look for.

Thanks

Model Year?

US or Row car?

Hi Loren

Doh - sorry. 996 C4S in the UK. '02 with about 70k miles.

If that is the only fault you are getting then you likely have a dieing O2 sensor.

I usually disconnect it clean the contacts and plug it back in. Then reset the fault code and see if it comes back.

That is a little early for an O2 sensor failure (from aging) but not totally unheard of.

Thanks Loren - I'll give that a try. From my (limited) understanding of this, I thought the sensors were in pairs (or is that only on certain cars). If so, how do I know from this which one's dying? Thanks again.

Bank 1 is cylinders 1 to 3. Which is on the left side 996.

The one in the code is the sensor after the cat (muffler side).

O2 sensors do not need to be replaced in pairs.
