I have a 2001 C4 coupe. Yesterday my pasenger window open midway for no apparent reason at all. i thought I accidentally press the button so I tried to close it surprise it won't close. i was cueing for a car wash at that time so I left the line and went home instead. the down button worked but it won't close. I opened the area where the window control button were and switched it with the driver side button and I was able to close it. I thought it might be the window button has gone bad. Today as I was driving home it open halfway again, this time I was able to close it. Do you think this a bad window button control or something else.

I don't have this problem with my 996, but I've had that problem with an old 1991 BMW 318i. As you guessed, the problem was with the window buttons. Luckily, it was only $7 for the bimmer. Since you are a contributing member, you can check how much it costs using the retail price search feature here.
