Hey Guys/Loren,

My AC controller display seems to be kicking the bucket. The unit itself works perfectly fine, except for the display which is acting crazy.

Any idea as to what this unit costs and/or if it is repairable?

Sheldon

A new control unit is very expensive.

If it is just the LCD display then take a look at this.

There is a thread on another board about this ebay kit. I have asked for a report and so far nothing. I actually contacted the seller a long time ago to see if it could be used on a Boxster since the Boxster's control unit is from an Audi. When I first saw it on ebay the LCD display was being sold only for Audi. Then the seller changed the listing to include the Boxster. But, I have no experience with this replacement display.

wow, cool!

i didn't know you could buy just the LCD piece. i actually searched online for quite a while to see if i could find this, but i never even thought to check eBay. nice find!!!

flyboyshell, you should be able to repair your climate control unit with this replacement LCD panel. taking the unit apart is very easy. a new C/C unit goes for about $400, so this part is a bargain!!! you might also want to buy a spare, just in case this happens again. i'm going to!

when you open the C/C unit, you will probably notice that the liquid in the old LCD panel has leaked out somewhat. that's what mine looked like.

awesome!!

Ok, I purchased the LCD kit, which did not work. Only one side did after they make you do major mods to the LCD casing. Not recommended in my opinion. Now my AC controller unit is not working at all. Anyone know where I can get one?

wow, that's too bad. can you explain how you had to mod the casing, which side worked, did you get any light at all on the other side, and are you sure everything is connected properly?

when things don't work, i take them apart again to see if i screwed up anything or forgot to tighten something, etc.

theoretically, the AC controller should work even with a broken LCD. maybe one of the connectors in the back is not plugged in all the way?

very disappointing to hear...

I bought a LCD replacment screen from Vertex auto and installed it myself.using the online instructions and watching a similar video.

It took less than 20 minutes and while the images are a little different now it works better ( when I had directed air-to-air blow down or at passengers I would get small to windshield and it would fog up.   Not anymore. )

I've attached before and after photos
