black/basalt black

I'm looking for a used boxter and noticed black and basalt black. Is the basalt a metallic? Does it look black or a dark grey? Havent had the chance to get by a porsche dealership to look yet.

Basalt Black has a heavy metallic content ... not sure if I'd call it dark gray, but, it is not jet black by any means. I had a 968 cab that was that color ... I loved it ... my wife hated it ... just a matter of personal taste ... you'll need to check it out ... neither basalt or black look good when dirty ... I washed my 968 cab every day ... my arctic silver 987 S gets washed once a week and always looks good ... but, never as good as a freshly washed & waxed black car ... good luck.

I'd definitely call it black in the garage. Put it in the sun and the metallic shines thru like anthracite trying to became a diamond.

I have one in Basalt Black, it does require a lot of washing to keep it looking good.

In the sunlight it looks metallic, and on overcast days or at night it looks purity much Black. I park next to a Black 996 and it’s hard to tell the difference under cover .
