Greetings ~

Newbie here, so please go easy... Recently picked up an '03 C4S / TIP, full of gizmos. Love the thing. Only issue (so far) is the driver’s lumbar control does not work. Previous owner experienced problem, took it to dealer and miraculouslyall was well when moved to his wife’s seating position. “Must be some sort of short that fixed itself…”, dealer speak for we can’t fix it I think. Anyway, first I moved the seat to #1 then #2 memory positions - no help. Next, dissected the switch and via test meter it indicates correct operation at all four positions; compressor in seat back operates with 12 volts DC across the contacts. There is no apparent indicated voltage to the switch from the box/computer under the seat. Anyone experience similar problem, or suggested remedy?

Thanks all,

Marc

My apologies to all for bringing back old threads regarding lumbar problems. On my car, the button for adjustment is there and I can hear "something" trying to move, but nothing happens in the seat. I could take it to the dealer, but just for diagnosis, they are quoting $300 (remove and re install seat). I'd like to see if there is something I can do myself. Have done tons of searching on the subject, but a lot of posts like this one...

Have you seen this aftermath one? http://www.sportsimportsltd.com/inseluinairc.html

I'm thinking of trying this one myself.

If I can't figure out how to make the stock one work, then this one will have to do! Problem with the stock one right now is that it is apparently filled to the max, thus pushing my lower back off the backrest, so I need to figure out how to remove the air it has now. Will try reaching behind the cover (hope not to break any clips!) and mess around with it.

AHH, the relief valve may be stuck. I haven't worked on mine, it hasn't ever failed. It only pumps up the bladder on advance, and releases air to reduce. It is wise to periodically inflate and deflate the bladder, to keep it working. I wonder if there is anything in the Bentley on that? I will take a look. Interesting, though, as I prefer mine almost fully inflated.
