Hi Guys

Just got my "new" used 2002 TT today.I am having some issues with the cd/radio stock CDR 220. it will not switch on. so I check the fuse and it is ok, on reinserting the fuse the radio comes on and seems to working ok except the control display is really dim and hard to read although everying is illuminated as it should be but not bright enough. Later on same problem, removing and replacing the fuse which is still intact gives me a "WAIT" display when I turn the radio on , but the display appears to be of the correct brightness now!. Being impatient I try to switch off and turn it on again ... NO radio response.

!. simple clean contacts between faceplate and body? Will do that in the morning

2. how much is a replacement unit?

3.what else can I do? Appears to be some circuits shorting?

Thanks

Well I rebooted it by removing power supply at the back of the radio. Rentered code and had a working radio until i switched it off again. Same problems recuured.

Looks like it will be sent to Becker in New Jerseyfor reprogram or repair ( exchange unit is about $300).

Dealer wants $1000 fo a replacement unit!!!

Dealers want stupid money for them. There are always a few on Ebay, or there are this side of the pond. I suspect the same is true on your side. Hope you get it fixed.
