Just started to drive boxster after sitting most of the winter after two diffrent drives car sat couple days and I noticed small oil leak from passenger side. At first I thought might be coolant overflow drain mixing with dirt on floor looking like oil but after getting under car I noticed it coming from a part looking like a big hexagonal nut like on this picture can someone tell me what part this is and should I be worried or just keep a watch on oil level ?

I don't notice it in your picture, sorry but mine came from a scan of bently pub. here is a photo I took it was dripping a small amount from both sides of the exhaust the other side that doesn't look as wet I had wiped clean earlier.

Could it be leaking oil from timing chain tensioner or is it probably coming from some place higher dripping down to it, last time I looked there I could not tell. I will try to clean it up better to get a closer look, but any info from you guys now could help me.

Hello, I'm in france (Paris), and I have the same problem of leakage.

I think it's comes from the up of the motors (oil tube filling) ?

Late reply, but did you ever figure this out? To me it appears as though the oil is coming from up higher and dripping down from the lowest point, which is that hex nut / bolt.

I have a similar oil leak, but I can't figure out where it's coming from. It's definitely working its way down the side of the engine and collecting on that hex bolt.

Thanks for any insight...

I had a leak in the exact same spot and it was from a torn boot on the bottom of the AOS. No code had been thrown. After 10 years the boot has just deteriorated.

Good Luck,

Brent

I never did figure out where it was coming from, I put a clean sheet of cardboard down underneath the car and park on top of it after each drive and I noticed it had stopped leaking about a week after my posting.

Thanks for the heads-up, brent, but my car has a new AOS. :(
