I own a '99 Boxster. When I go to open the door the window does not drop that 1/4" making it stick on top. Once the door is open I can manually push the window down to the normal spot. If I don't the window closes on the outside of the top. Once the door closes the window automatically goes back up to the closed position. I can not find any answers for this problem with the serch functiuon. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Outofcontrol

the window regulator is bad. this is a very common problem.

if you search for 'regulator' i'm sure you will find plenty. you can get a new regulator from www.sunsetimports.com for $150. it took me about 2 hours to install in my driveway, and the hardest part is getting the interior door panel off. otherwise, it's a breeze. (don't bother buying a 'used' regulator from anyone, it's not worth it.) the window motor is probably fine, so just order the regulator.

here are the DIY instructions i used:

good luck!

Do a search for "Windows Are Not Going Up All The Way" and you will find instructions.

I've also seen on other sites that you need to reset the windows by pressing the up postition and holding it for 5 seconds in the full up position.

After completing the OBC hack, following re-connecting the battery, I had to reset the windows by lowing and raising the windows one time using the auto down and up (momentary select) for each window. You might try this, but make sure you have your radio code.

I think there is a micro switch in the outer door handle that causes the window to drop when opening the door..... this might be something to look into.
