On the 997 C2S my clutch pedal makes a klicking sound when its pushed all the way in. Is this normal?

It depends... there are two switches on the clutch pedal. One switch for the start interlock and one for cruise control.

If the clicking is "heavier" than a switch or there is any binding then something else is wrong.

It is just one click when I push the pedal all the way in. I think its a normal sound, just not sure.

Hi

The clutch pedal is equipped with a coil spring assist, if the pedal comes over a well defined point, the spring basculante and can produce a clicking noise. You can fill the spring with grease to reduce the noise.

I am dealing with this exact issue on my new 997. But I'm not sure what "basculante" means. When I get under the clutch pedal and move it back and forth, it makes a "click" which can be felt through the pedal, and it happens right when the spring goes over-center.

I will try grease, but what do you mean by "basculante"? Thanks in advance.

When the spring goes over-center is exactly what i mean whit basculante.

I have a 2007 997 Carerra S – 2500 miles – with a vibration in the clutch pedal when shifting that is most noticeable when the engine RPM is 3500 to 5000. To demonstrate the problem, I can rev the engine with the gear in neutral and press the clutch pedal in and out with the engine at 4000 RPM. There is a very distinct vibration in the clutch pedal after the clutch is disengaged and through the pedal travel to just before “bottom out”.

The dealer has replaced the clutch pressure plate and throw out bearing the first time with no improvement.

The second time, the above were replaced again along with the fly wheel that they indicated has shown some vibration in other vehicles with rivets that sometimes loosen. They indicated that my flywheel did not show any loose rivets.

Upon return, the vibration was less than before but not gone and it increased in just a few days of driving – I am not a real aggressive driver.

The car is going back tomorrow morning for another round of “what can we try this time”. Any info of your experiences would be appreciated.

I have a 2006 C2S with very low milage ( about 2900 ). I do feel a slight vibration, as you mentioned, and it is also at higher revs ( 4500 and above ) when I'm upshifting and have the clutch completely floored. It is somewhat expected, as I see it, and from what I have been told . I am not an engineer, however, I have read that the clutch assembly and the bearing locations are somewaht far apart and that contributes to the vibration. Also in the past ,with the RMS problems, this vibration causes the seals to fail...because of the off center ocsilations (sp? ) anyway you and I are most likely not the only ones experiencing this issue. Whatever the reason, whether by correct reasoning or otherwise, it's a little bothersome and something you would have expected Porsche to address..you and I are not the only ones feeling this!
