Ambient lighting question

Okay, I have checked the forums and tried other online sources but this question is not really covered. I have a 1999 911 and know that the 2002+ models had ambient lighting upgrades done to them. What I really want to know is what lights were added (locations) and if any of them can be added to my 1999 model. Ideally I want the upper roof lights if there were any. My Audi had those and I really liked them for night time driving. Has anyone tackled this before? Thanks

Here is what changed in MY01.

I think you are in for some rewiring since every Porsche has a custom wire harness.

I'd bet that you could pilfer that whole assembly from an '01 and tap into the power to run the LED. Should be relatively uncomplicated. (I know, famous last words). Probably need to look at the parts diagrams and numbers to see what changes.

Thank Loren, I was hoping it was built into that upper light console. I have a lead on a turbo overhead light console that I may try to retrofit.

How hard can the wiring be anyways, its one a single positive and negative connection right! :P

Keep us posted on how this works out. I think I might be able to scrounge one out of an '02 if its doable.
