Last weekend two 15 year old boys broke into my house, grabbed the keys to my 996 C2 and took it for a spin. After jumping a red light a police car tried to pull them over, but they just sped off. They reached 100mph overtaking over the brow of a blind hill and the inevitable crash happened. They hit another car head on causing serious injuries to the 2 people in the other car (all 4 legs broken) but, as is often the way, the joyriders escaped without a scratch thanks to the 911 airbags, crumple zone, etc.

The 2 boys pleaded guilty and each got 8 months in youth detention centre, the 2 people they injured are still in hospital 10 days later.

This is what my car looked like afterwards:

It should at least provide you with some comfort to know how strong the 911 is.

That is terrible. Sorry for the other car occupants and the loss of your car.

What are you going to replace it with?

I still need to have the discussion on the value of my car with the insurance company, that will determine what comes next, but it will be another 911.

Stories like this infuriate me as I'm sure it does to most, if not all, of you guys. :cursing: :cursing:

I'm terribly sorry about the loss of your car and for the tragic trauma caused to the innocent victims!

But as you say, this event do grab some interest as I haven't seen that many pictures of 996's involved in high speed crashes. You wouldn't possible have a picture taken from the side and the interior?

Kind regards,

Karl

The crash happened in Hastings.

In response to Karl; I have one picture of the side taken by a photographer at the scene who maintains copyright over it. It shows the kink before the rear wheel and the flattened roofline - they were so lucky and the occupants of the other car so unlucky.

Sorry to hear that, I hope you get a decent deal out of insurance for a new toy.

And those bloody little bastards, they deserve more than 8 months in "detention?"

They should be in jail with Bubba who'll take care of them.
