On my way to work there is this small length of road when everytime l go across it, the steering wheel seems to be controlled either by the road or tires. If l just take my hands off the steeering wheel, the steering wheel just goes to the left and right, instead of staying at the center. It doesnt happen on everywhere l drive, but always at this point. The road is uneven but not that much. Also sometimes as l slow down to come to a stop at the lights, if l take my hands off the wheel, the steering wheel just goes round anti-clockwise by around 30 to 80 degrees. Is this a tire issue for me or is something else happening. Thanks for any responses. My car is a 2001 996 C2.

This happens to me also on 2 roads i take to work, the road seems ok but is actually uneven and will cause the steering wheel to pull left then right then left again. If you steering wheel always pulls about 30 degrees at every stop you come to, It could mean that you need your brakes & suspension looked at. Since Anti-clockwise means the car basically turns slight left, that could mean you have a worn out front suspension bushing or bearing OR the brakes on that side are gripping slightly more than the right side and you could just need to have the brakes replaced and brake discs also.

Sounds very familiar to me, some roads and crawling speeds just want to take your wheel. Also at slowing down in a traffic light, the pavement differences may deceive your eyes, they can be significant. Any construction going on around where big heavy fat trucks drive? Those areas seem to be the worse. If you are crawling in a highway, that is perfect and smooth, and don't have the same feeling, then is probably just the roads, built by the lowest bidder with the cheapest materials and the lowest warranty. Your taxes at work....

Doesn't happen with the minivan though, lots of slop on that steering!
