Power Steering line

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have a MY97 boxster and I'm replacing the Power steering pump. I had a quick question, how do you remove you the metal power steering line that connects to the rear plastice resevoir? It's the only thing that's hindering me from removing the whole pump and it's quite frustrating.

Thanks in advance.

"Detaching steering return line

In order to detach the line from the supply tank, push the red unlocking ring forward (arrows) and simultaneously pull out the line. Use two plastic spatulas

to press the unlocking ring."

"Detaching steering return line from the supply tank with (SnapOn No. A177A) tool

The line can also be detached using a commercially available tool. Insert tool between line and the red unlocking ring and unlock. Pull line to the rear and

simultaneously press the tool against the red ring. Carefully protect the line against dirt and scratches with a cap."

Greatly appreciated, now the hunt goes on for that tool. Space is so limited back there (even with the throttle body connecting tube removed) that i couldn't find out for the life of me how to remove that thing.
