This is a project I intended to do a few years back with my old Boxster, when the armrests started peeling, but I never got around to it. Lately, a couple of posts on PPBB got me thinking, and this time, doing. A few hours later and I am absolutely thrilled with this hack! I've taken those hard plastic covers which are pathetic as armrests, and turned them into something actually comfortable, 100% OEM-looking and matching the interior, and add a touch of class. I just finished the padded armrest and I want to thank you for the very useful mod. I got the black leather from Dangerous Threads http://myworld.ebay.com/bobkitchener/ on ebay for $9.00 for the two square feet and the foam from Michael's as you suggested for $0.85. I already had the contact cement so my $10 addition made the interior look like new.

That looks like a really cool mod. My driver's side cover is wearing through and I was wondering whether to buy a new lid - this could be the answer (and improvement) that I was looking for.
