Burning Oil Smell on Shutdown

Recently bought a 2004 TT, only 6000 miles, GIAC Chip and diverters. Good condition. No sign of abuse.

No oil leaks or seepage (Checked ou myself and by dealer).

When I shut the car off, after it has been running and is fully warmed up, even if it has not been run hard, I get a very pronounced oil burning smell. Car does not seem to be using an unusual amount of oil, (next to nothing actually).

Any of you have the same thing? Is this a "normaL" turbo heat smell"?

Question for you...Do you cool your turbos down before you shut it off? You should idle the car for 90-120 seconds before you shut it down.

Question for you...Do you cool your turbos down before you shut it off? You should idle the car for 90-120 seconds before you shut it down.

I've tried the cool-down cycle - does not make any difference.

I'm confused by this statement...you've tried the cool-down cycle. This is not something you try, but do it every time you shut your car down...even to get gas. Anyway I won't preach to you. I have an 04 and it does not smell like burning oil. Hope you figure it out.

Look for any evidence of oil dripping onto the exhaust manifolds. If you can't see any such evidence, take the turbos off the exhaust manifolds to see if there is any oil leakage past the seal rings on the exhaust side of the turbine wheels. You may have some slight leakage past these steel ring seals on the exhaust side into the manifold - clarification - the oil may be getting blown from the exhaust wheel seals into the exhaust pipe - to the muffler assembly, where it could be burning out etc.

There is a reason for the smell........hopefully it is a simple fix.
