HELP

2001 S with approximately 36K miles.

Hi all,

I don't want to pay $200 a pop. This is my first oil change since I have owned this wonderful ride! My mechanic of 12 years won't touch it, I don't want to take it to a Jiffy Lube, and the only people that want to do it is the dealership at $175+tax! What gives?

From what I have read here, it seems to be a simple process on the boxster. However, all the independent mechanics (obvioulsy the ones I am talking to don't specialize on porsches) say that some porsches are realy touchy and there is a specific stepped process that must be taken. Can you shed light on this?

$175 is a fair market price.

I pay about $110 here is Chicago. I have seen prices as high as $250. I have paid about $70 when I brought my own oil.

This is your first oil change on a 2001? I hope someone did it prior to you!

Of course, the wifey doesn't see much humor here. She just wants a serviced, polished and vacuumed car ready for her boulevard cruising! :drive:
