Fuel Filler Flap

Hi Guys:

Noticed the fuel filler flap on my MY99 996 C2 was not locking.

Obseved the actuator "locking pin" and was not traveling enough. Also noticed the guide rose (996-624-505-02) was/is out of place. Could not reach it in order to place it correctly. Don't know why (stupid me) pulled the emergency emrgency operator (996-201-493-00) thinking it may make the actuator "locking pin" more free to travel and go out enought to lock the filler plap but used too much power and basically everything was sucked inside. :oops: :cursing: How can I reach/repair that part? Does the fender has to be taken apart from the body? Hope not. :help:

As I recall you should be able to get to that by removing the inner fender liner.

Remove the wheel to get better access.

Well, you might want to pick up some of the plastic rivets that the fender liner in place - if they are very old they will likely break when removed.

I can't remember there being much room to work (if you have big hands like me) but you should have enough room to push it through the hole while you put the rose back on. I wouldn't think it would take an hour - and you might be able to just pull that section of the fender liner back rather than removing the whole thing. So maybe a 3 or 4.
